Join a student architecture organization.
Joining a student organization is a way to start your professional networking. Student organizations can also give you a peer support system.
There are three main student organizations with a national presence.

National Organization of Minority Architects
The National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) is a professional organization for individuals practicing architecture and allied professionals to advance justice and equity in communities of color. There are collegiate chapters (cNOMAs) in many colleges.

American Institute of Architecture Students
The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) is an independent, nonprofit, student-run organization dedicated to providing unmatched progressive programs, information, and resources on issues critical to architecture and the experience of education. The AIAS aims to promote excellence in architectural education, training, and practice; to foster an appreciation of architecture and related disciplines; to enrich communities in a spirit of collaboration; and to organize students and combine their efforts to advance the art and science of architecture.

The American Institute of Architects
The American Institute of Architects is the professional organization for architects in the United States. The advocate for architecture and provide resources to architects. They also produce official position statements on issues affecting the profession.
AIA does offer early membership to college students. They also have a career board and other resources available to students.

Become a licensed architect.

Research the licensure requirements in your state.
The National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) is a nonprofit organization made up of the architectural licensing boards of 55 U.S. states and territories. While each jurisdiction is responsible for regulating the practice of architecture within its borders, NCARB develops and administers national programs for candidates pursuing architectural licensure and helps architects expand their professional reach through the NCARB Certificate.

Get experience now.
To earn a license and become an architect, you'll need to document real-world experience through the Architectural Experience Program (AXP). Developed by NCARB and required by most U.S. licensing boards, the AXP provides a framework to guide you through earning and reporting your professional experience. With broad experience areas that reflect the current phases of practice, the program prepares you for everything from site design to project management.
The NCARB provides many resources on how to obtain and document your real-world experience, including a mobile app.

Study for the ARE.
The Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®) is a multi-division exam used to assess your knowledge and skills regarding the practice of architecture. The current version of the exam, ARE 5.0, is developed by NCARB and features six divisions. Completing ARE 5.0 by passing all six divisions is required by all U.S. jurisdictions as a key step on the path to earning a license.
